I am a: writer, teacher, mother, activist, daughter, bookworm, garden-grower, dabbling-chef, Scrabble-goddess, kitchen-dancer, starling watcher, and beauty archivist.
My fiction and poetry have been published in Hip Mama, The Tule Review, Vox, Susurrus, Petals and Bones, The Sacramento News and Review, and The Pacific Review. I am represented by Amy Tipton of Signature Literary Agency. I won a fiction fellowship to the Tomales Bay Writer’s Workshop in 2010 with an excerpt of that novel. There, I worked with author Dorothy Allison and Tin-House co-founder, Elissa Schappell.
I earned a M.F.A. from the California Institute of Integral Studies in Writing and Consciousness in 2008.
I am a trained Amherst Writers and Artists’ affiliate who has written with Pat Schneider. I currently teach creative writing classes in Sacramento, California when I’m not trying to rally Sacramentans to volunteer with 916 Ink–a whimsical literacy center for the youth of the greater Sacramento region.
